I am happy to endorse a wonderful person and candidate running for the BCTF Member-At-Large position in the upcoming March election. I know that she is a strong voice for all members and is an active member with fair and clear ideas to share. I worked with her this past year on projects that engage members in topics related to Aboriginal Education but I feel she would be equally committed to work within the BCTF as an executive committee member.

I am happy to endorse a wonderful person and candidate running for the BCTF Member-At-Large position in the upcoming March election. I know that she is a strong voice for all members. She is honest and courageous and demonstrates integrity in all that she does. I’m confident that she would be a great addition to the BCTF EC.

It is with great honour and respect that I endorse Jelana Bighorn. Jelana is grounded in her cultural teachings, which guide her in all the work that she does for the union. I am inspired by her honesty and bravery in the anti-racism work she does. Jelana speaks her truth in humility to all in her journey. She is powerful, not because she isn’t sometimes scared, but because she continues on this difficult journey despite her fear.

I have witnessed Jelana’s impressive leadership. As an organization, in this time, it is very important to have Indigenous voice on the executive who sees the issues clearly and who carries with them strong cultural connections. Jelana demonstrates strength with grace, power with kindness, culture with patience and understanding.

Jelana is a role model to me. As an early Indigenous teacher I often don’t see myself represented in the membership but Jelana has been a source of mentorship and has made me feel heard and sees as an Indigenous teacher. I fully endorse Jelana and strongly feel that she will have the same impact on other Indigenous teachers in the province should she be elected as Member-At-Large.
